I felt like in the piece you did manage to create a balance on the one hand you were dressed like a superhero and you had the sequence with the balloon but, with the section of you in the film swimming created the idea of a kind of struggle and a new feel from the work I have seen you do. You also have quite informative sections due to the voice overs, so its clear that for me I think you can have both the pissing about side and the serious side to, but just note how serious do you want the peice to be ? I also thin can you can have a section with explixite detail to your issues to so that the audience knows about your issues. What happens when I just drop what I’m doing and move on?
It does feel like a quick change, you seems unsure to commit straight to the next section. I think you should commit straight away to actions or take your time and use your stage presence more like you do with the opening and putting on the crown.
How (trans*)gender in performance can be tackled without being simply confessional, educational or cathartic
I think it's very tricky area as a lot of the time focusing of these issues you may need some knowledge and background on the area for an audience member which you had due to the voice over, but at this stage I thought you are in a good place, though I feel like you can push even further and experiment with costume: maybe using more of the male or female to make a point about the way we see trans people ?
ordering of sections etc.
I really liked the order you had it in through for me the ending fell a little flat like I wanted more in the sense of an end, on the other hand if that’s what you wanted you achieve that. Are they too one-dimensional? I feel with this area you get your point across quite quickly, but the game of the balloon makes into a game-ish element that I liked. Think onwards more with your superhero athletic and use the idea of the game more, you might find many ways of showing the phallic elements , that can have more of an endurance elements to it .
